AN EDITORIAL COMMENT FROM YOUR COUNTY CHAIRMAN
Since the 2008 election I have been speaking of the importance the 2010 election would hold for Texas and our
country. At that time I was thinking of re-districting and the impact it would have during the following decade. Little did
I dream of the drastic turn to the left that President Obama would impose on us. Even less did I dream of the dramatic reaction
of the American people to his and Congress' programs to reduce our freedoms and destroy our economy. At that time
many believed the Republican Party was dead. I did not. I have followed American politics for over 50 years and studied its
history from the time Europeans first came this country. I knew we would recover and come back even stronger. I just did not
think it would be this quickly. Now, we are posed to gain control of the U.S. House of Representatives and possibly even the
U.S. Senate because the American people are thoroughly disgusted with what the Democrats have done. But we are not home free.
They are equally concerned with how we Republicans will govern. We must work smarter and harder to regain control and even
more to gain the trust of the American people. We have two tasks facing us. First, to win the elction. Second, to govern effectively.
To do the latter we must all continue working after the election to make sure our newly elected Congress listens to We the
People and works to restore fiscal and social responsibillity to our country. We can do it, provided we don't go back
to our rocking chair to watch the Simpsons. We will need to remain active and that means we will need to continue flooding
Washington and Austin with our opinions. We are now down to only a little over 70 days until the election. Here is what
we must do: First, plan to vote and make sure our family, neighbors and associates do as well. This means we must get
out and speak out. We must take our conservative Republican message to America. So, contact everyone you know. Donate to good
candidates in Texas and across America if you can. If you cannot afford money, then provide your time to walk and talk. Second, learn the issues. Know for yourself the content of some of the passed and proposed legislation. Become familiar
with what is meant by TRILLIONS of dollars of debt and the impact it will have on us. Let others know how you feel about these
issues. Third, speak out to our elected officials at all levels. Let them know how you feel and that you will be watching
them. In short - be PROACTIVE. Stand up for what you believe and don't be shy about it. Be Proud that you live in
the finest country in world history.
The Republican Party of Texas (RPT) held it's
bi-annual Convention at the Dallas Convention Center on June 11-12. Nearly 10000 delegates assembled to develop plans
and strategy for Victory in November. If there was one item on which we all agreed it was that we must win in November
and we must perform and produce afterward. We elected a new Chairman and Vice-Chairman to lead us during the next
two crucial years. They have ideas that will lead to success and they warrant our whole-hearted support in developing and
implementing them. The RPT wesite has more details so please visit www.texasgop.org .
